Bottle Breacher Update

  • Entrepreneurs:  Eli Crane and Jen Crane
  • Business: Custom bullet bottle openers
  • Ask: $150,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $150,000 for 20% equity
  • Sharks:  Mark Cuban and Kevin O’Leary

Eli and Jen brought their very unique, custom made, bullet shell bottle openers into the tank and the sharks loved them! Their military background had a lot to do with the concept for their business, Bottle Breacher. They passed out personalized samples to the sharks and even made a hot pink one for Lori Greiner.

All of the company’s sales come through its own official website or through the company’s Etsy store.  The average cost of a single bottle opener is $23.50, with optional engraving add-ons and custom features potentially increasing the cost per unit. The company pays just $9.03 to manufacture each bottle opener, but believes that there are ways to significantly lower production costs.

During the company’s pitch, the sharks were surprised to hear about the year-to-date sales from Jen.  She told the sharks that the company had generated $500,000 and was projecting to reach $840,000 by the end of the year.

Kevin O’Leary was very interested and decided that he wanted to be the first shark to make an offer to Bottle Breacher. He offered $150,000 for 20% equity in the company. Believing the product was too niche for her to partner with, Lori went out. Daymond John however was interested in working with them. He offered $200,000 for 25%, contingent on a licensing deal.

Robert Herjavec told Eli and Jen that they already had good offers on the table, so he went out. Then, Eli asked Mark Cuban if he’d be willing to go in with any of the sharks. He agreed to partner with Kevin. They offered the couple $150,000 for 20% and Eli and Jen accepted their offer. What became of their business after the show? Find out in our Bottle Breacher update!
