Shark Tank Kane & Couture Update

Kane & Couture Update

  • Entrepreneur: Amber Lee Forrester
  • Business: Canine lifestyle brand
  • Ask: $150,000 in exchange for 33% equity
  • Result: $150,000 in exchange for 40% equity, with a contingency
  • Sharks: Lori Greiner, Daymond John

Amber entered the tank with her dog, Kane who was the inspiration for her company, Kane & Couture. He was dressed in a suit and hanging out in a stylish dog carrier, before being joined by other canine friends, modeling more of Amber’s products.

When asked about sales, she told the sharks that she had been in the business for over four years, and her past-year sales were $90,000. Amber sold the products online and at a few retailers. When Robert Herjavec asked her projected sales for the following year would be, she said $1.8 million.

Kevin O’Leary didn’t try to hide his annoyance with bow ties and button-downs for dogs, and he was the first shark to go out. Robert didn’t think Amber had a concrete plan, so he too went out. Lori Greiner was convinced that Amber had something special with Kane & Couture, and she said she would make an offer if Daymond John, who has more experience in fashion distribution, agreed to go in with her.

While Daymond pondered Lori’s proposal, the focus shifted to Mark Cuban, who just wasn’t interested and went out. Eventually Daymond agreed to partner with Lori, and they would fund Amber’s ask if she could provide them with $400,000 in opening orders. Daymond also wanted a 40% stake, and Amber was open to the deal as long as they could help her finance the tentative purchase orders. When they agreed, Amber accepted the deal.

With a two-shark deal upon leaving the tank, what do you think happened next for her company? Keep reading our Kane & Couture update to find out!
