Shauna entered the tank with a caveman, playfully nailing in the fact that Paleolithic eating involves eating only the foods that cavemen might have eaten. The Paleo Diet Foods diet bar is specifically designed to provide a variety of nutritional benefits, but leaves out unapproved ingredients like gluten, soy and dairy. She says that her product is the only ever endorsed product by the creator of The Paleo Diet, Dr. Loren Cordain. Shauna passed out samples to the sharks.

Moving onto the company’s finances, Shauna told the sharks that her lifetime sales were $135,000 at the time of filming. In terms of margins, a single bar costs $1.09 to make and sells for $2.99. With only 25% margins on each bar sold, Shauna admitted that she hoped to improve the manufacturing costs with the help of a shark. When asked if this company was her full time job, she explained that besides being a busy mom, she was also a fitness instructor and a dental hygienist.

Lori Greiner was the first shark to drop out, because she didn’t like the taste of the bar. Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Mark Cuban all went out because they felt Shauna had too much on her plate to be a focused partner. Without an offer from any of the sharks, she was forced to leave the tank without a deal. To find out what happened next with her company, keep reading The Paleo Diet Foods update!

We have great news to share in The Paleo Diet Foods update. The company is still in business, but apparently rebranded under the new name, Paleo Ranch. With an estimated annual revenue of about $3.5 million, they seem to have found a way to success without the help of a shark. Besides Amazon, products are also available on the Paleo Ranch website.
