Shark Tank The Swilt Update

The Swilt update

  • Entrepreneur: Ivori Tennelle
  • Business: Sweater/quilt combination
  • Ask: $30,000 for 35% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Ivori Tennelle enters the tank ready to display her cozy product to the sharks. She presents The Swilt, with much enthusiasm and excitement about her product.

She then goes on to show the sharks how it works. The Swilt actually converts from on-the-go mode, which is like a hooded, pull over sweatshirt, to full-coverage mode, which opens up, resembling a Snuggie.

Further, the bottom of The Swilt, when extended, includes a waterproof foot pocket. This way, if the ground gets dirty, wet, or muddy, you can just wipe off the debris, and roll The Swilt back up, for it’s next use.

The product is meant to be used for soccer moms, or those needing to be out in the cold for sporting events. Ivori advertises it as an on-the-go clothing item, with many uses, especially due to it’s flexibility.

Robert Herjavec asks how many of The Swilts have been sold, and Ivori says only about a hundred due to having only been present at markets so far. Guest shark Lori Greiner shakes her head, but Ivori says as soon as people learn about the product, they will love it.

Kevin O’Leary remarks that it is always a problem when people don’t know yet. Robert asks what Ivori plans to do with the money.

She goes into detail about upgrading the website, and creating inventory, however, most of the sharks are altogether amused by the proposal.

Mark Cuban remarks on the similarity between the full-coverage Swilt and a medieval monk’s attire. He doesn’t see the practicality of the product, and eventually goes out.

Ivori mentions the success of the Snuggie, but Lori says it had not enjoyed long-term success at this point. Because of this, she also goes out.

Ivori highlights the portability of the product, however Robert says it doesn’t really look attractive. Unfortunately, he also goes out.

That said, Robert suggests that Daymond John is the only one who will see the appeal of it.

Before Daymond speaks up, Kevin agrees with Robert’s take, and eventually goes out. He also states that he doesn’t see the visual appeal of the product either.

Daymond says he can’t bring any value to the company, so he is also out.

This sadly means that Ivori didn’t receive any offers, therefore, she leaves without a deal.
