Pillars of Slippers Update

  • Entrepreneur: Nicole Jones
  • Business: Shoe shopping home parties
  • Ask: $150,000 for 15%
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Nicole entered Shark Tank Season 1 with a full-on performance, including walking down a pink carpet like a model and dancing while introducing her business, Pillars of Slippers.

Self-styling herself the ‘Shoe Professor’, this entrepreneur caught the attention of the sharks through sheer flamboyance.

Nicole told the sharks about her three distribution channels. She had a brick-and-mortar retail store, as well as a website for online sales, and a pink SUV packed with shoes that she took to home parties.

She noticed that she was losing money on the upkeep of the retail store, and was looking to expand on the other two distribution channels.

Nicole’s idea was to create a franchise business model, inviting women to buy into the company for $100,000 up front.

This gave the sharks pause, based on her sales figures for the previous year.

Nicole had earned $64,000 from home parties, and $70,000 in internet sales in the year prior to filming.

Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec were immediately skeptical of this business model.

Kevin Harrington didn’t believe in the potential success of the franchising, and went out. Daymond John followed out, stating there was nothing for him to do with this proposal.

Robert also didn’t believe Nicole could make a franchise work, and went out. Barbara Corcoran went out for the same reasons, and also because she found Nicole’s energy overwhelming.

Kevin O. was the last to go out, leaving Nicole without a deal.

Without an offer from any of the sharks, Nicole had to leave the tank without a deal. Did her plans work out after appearing on Shark Tank? Keep reading our Pillars of Slippers update to find out.

Per our Pillars of Slippers update, it seems that Nicole did try to scale back her business model, but the company didn’t make it and eventually went out of business

Despite this, Nicole continues to be interested in design and sales. So maybe she will spin up another business and return to the tank one day.

This will be our final Pillars of Slippers update.
