Shark Tank Salespreneur Update

Salespreneur update

  • Entrepreneur: Dave Greco
  • Business: Sales rep education system
  • Ask: $90,000 for 40% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Founder of Salespreneur, Dave Greco, walked into the tank and talked at length about his experience in sales, ever since he was selling crayons as a child. In fact, Dave is a self-proclaimed sales expert who says that he can sell anything to anyone.

From the time he was a young boy, he began selling pencils around his neighborhood. Then, working in sales, he has hit every quota, and been in the top 2% of every firm he’s worked for.

Additionally, he says that he’s won every sales performance award that there is to win. From his experience, he eventually developed a way to train others to be great in sales too.

He then introduced the sharks to each of his guidebooks for becoming a great sales rep and entrepreneur. His system will ultimately help the user get in front of the right people, who will make the buy.

He also told the sharks how he was planning to use a smartphone app to also help guide sales professionals.

Kevin O’Leary said Dave was trying to convince them that he could turn anyone into a great salesperson. Dave reiterated that he could do exactly that, and asked the sharks if they had any questions for him.

Kevin asked about sales, and Dave said he’d sold $40,000 in the last 3 months. He also said the system was present in 5 organizations, and then talked in more detail about how the business model worked, and how it could assist corporations with training.

Dave said he wanted to scale the company. Robert Herjavec ultimately thought Dave was selling his own prowess. However, Dave highlighted that he was selling his system, plus his intellectual capital.

Kevin found his sales skills appealing, and Daymond John asked Dave to sell him a pen to see how he adapted to the task. Dave did not impress Daymond with his pitch, so the shark eventually went out.

Robert said he believed in the seminar system, but not in the scalability of the company. For this reason, he also went out.

Unfortunately, Kevin also did not think that it was a good investment, and went out.

Despite this, Mark Cuban asked if Dave would accept an offer of $90,000 for 40% equity. However, Dave said he wanted to hear what Barbara Corcoran had to say first.

Barbara basically thought he was going too fast, and that the mobile app would nevertheless be a problem. For these reasons, she too went out.

By this point, Mark was the only one left, but he was extremely put off by Dave switching his attention to Barbara. He did not end up putting the offer on the table, and finally went out.

Nevertheless,Dave had to leave the tank without a deal for his company.

Our Salespreneur update reveals that the company did not manage to triumph after the Shark Tank appearance. The business seems to have closed down in 2012, and Dave moved on to other ventures.
