Shark Tank PRO-NRG Update

PRO-NRG Update

  • Entrepreneur: Tania Patruno
  • Business: Protein-infused flavored water
  • Ask: $250,000 for 15% equity
  • Result: $250,000 for 30% equity
  • Shark: Daymond John

Tania, the founder of PRO-NRG, came on Shark Tank Season 4 to pitch her protein-infused flavored waters to the sharks. Tania fortified her pitch by bringing along 2x Super Bowl Champion and NFL Running Back Brandon Jacobs to endorse the product personally.

The sharks were impressed with Tania’s ability to get the product into 3,000 stores in the NY area through her own efforts. This was especially impressive considering Tania had only launched the brand 3 months earlier.

When Mark Cuban asked about sales, she shared that the drink costs $1.10 to make, $1.80 at wholesale, and retailed at $3.99.

Kevin O’Leary was not happy to hear this, and he pointed out that her distributors were making more off the product than she was, and he went out. Mark spoke next, applauding Tania’s product, but he wasn’t interested in investing, so he went out next.

Admittedly confused, Barbara Corcoran said she didn’t understand the product, so she too went out. Robert Herjavec applauded Tania’s hustle but also was not interested in being in the space, so he was out too.

Daymond John was the only shark interested, and he offered Tania $250,000 in exchange for 30% equity but stated the deal was contingent on another of his companies joining the deal.

He had recently partnered with a protein and supplement company and was only willing to invest in PRO-NRG if that company wanted to come on board.

Tania agreed, and she and Daymond made a deal! What happened next for the company? Keep reading our PRO-NRG update to find out!

After the episode aired, PRO-NRG experienced some short-lived success and was even sold in Walgreens. Unfortunately, things went south for the company when a man named Joshua Fenwick sued Tania’s husband, alleging he had been forced out of the company in July 2014.

During our PRO-NRG update research, we found that the case was dismissed, but the company is now out of business, and Tania is working as a realtor in New Jersey.

This will be our final PRO-NRG update.
