Anthony and Tina entered
The sharks were interested but wanted to get more details about numbers. The couple told them that the Podillow cost around $7 per unit to make, and retailed at $29.95.
They’d sold 6,000 units overall, resulting in $21,000 in sales in the past year.
Kevin O’Leary immediately noticed the discrepancy between the valuation and the total sales. Kevin Harrington asked if these were retail or catalog sales, and Anthony revealed they had two standing orders for catalogs that they couldn’t fulfill without capital.
Robert Herjavec did the math based on the current figures and estimated a more realistic valuation of $100,000. This backed up Kevin O.’s feelings about the valuation being outlandish.
Kevin O. went out because the numbers weren’t matching the reality of the business.
Kevin H. followed out because he thought the product was too regional and seasonal to succeed as an investment.
Daymond John said he loved the story and the product and saw great potential in it, but the inflated valuation put him off and he went out.
Barbara Corcoran thought the couple should have prepared more before coming into the tank, and went out. Robert also went out, claiming Anthony and Tina were looking more for a small loan. He did not trust the numbers.
