Frends Headphones Update | Shark Tank Season 7

Keir Dillon and his friends were professional X Games athletes who used headphones daily while training and traveling. Over time, they realized that most headphones lacked personality, especially for women who cared about fashion. That moment sparked the idea for Frends Headphones—a product that combines quality audio with stylish, interchangeable caps that feel more like accessories than gear. Let’s see if their company can secure a deal in our Frends update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank Frends Pitch

Shark Tank Frends Update
  • Entrepreneurs: Sheen Moaleman and Keir Dillon
  • Business: Fashionable headphones
  • Ask: $1 million for 7.6% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Sheen and Keir entered Shark Tank Season 7 with a glamorous selection of Frends Headphones.

They explained that most headphones on the market were built for function, not style. Their brand focused on fashion-forward headphones designed specifically for women.

The standout feature was interchangeable caps, allowing users to match their headphones with different outfits. They released new cap collections every season, inspired by runway trends.

The entrepreneurs handed out samples. Sheen said smaller headphones sold for $150 and larger ones for $200.

Kevin O’Leary asked about distribution. Keir said they sold through Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Anthropologie, and their website.

Robert Herjavec asked why they missed projections previously. Keir said they launched in 2012 with Apple and Best Buy through consignment deals.

In 2013, they brought in $2.5 million but lost $1.3 million. Guest shark Ashton Kutcher asked how they survived the loss. Keir said they raised $1.5 million using convertible notes.

Mark Cuban asked about current year-to-date sales. Keir said under $1 million so far, but they expected $8.7 million by the end of the year.

Keir confirmed they expected a big push, mainly due to a new Bluetooth necklace priced between $300 and $500.

Lori Greiner asked about the cost. Keir said each unit cost $60 to make.

Kevin asked for next year’s sales forecast. Keir said $34 million with $3 million in profit, which they planned to reinvest. Kevin asked how much they had lost so far. Keir said $9 million.

Kevin dropped out. He said they were burning too much cash and headed toward zero.

Ashton said the product was cool, but their pitch lacked clarity and transparency. He went out.

Lori said the product looked great, but the business lost too much money. She passed on investing.

Robert agreed. He didn’t believe there was a big market at the $300–$500 price point and thought their sales projection was unrealistic. He also went out.

Mark said early losses were common, but the whole bet was on the Bluetooth necklace succeeding. He didn’t feel confident with the risk and backed out.

Sheen and Keir had to leave Shark Tank without a deal. Keep reading our Frends update to learn more about what happened.

Shark Tank Frends Update

Our Frends update found that after appearing on Shark Tank, the company continued operating without a deal.

Over the following years, there were some major leadership changes.

In 2016 Sheen stepped away from the company to pursue a legal career. Keir left in 2017 and later became Managing Director at OPEN Beer. Daniel Davis took over as CEO after their departure.

Our Frends update found an interview with The List where the founders admitted they had been underprepared for the sharks’ interrogation and reevaluated their strategy following the experience.

Instead of immediately pouring resources into the new product as originally planned, they paused to cut costs and refocus the business, heeding Mark Cuban’s warning about betting everything on one launch.

These changes seemed to pay off. According to our Frends update research, the company managed to improve its financial health over time.

In 2023–2024, the company was reportedly generating about $6–8 million in annual revenue.

However at the time of writing the Frends website is offline and their last social media update was in 2022.

If we get another Frends update, we will let you know.
