Find out in our IllumiBowl update.

Shark Tank IllumiBowl Update

IllumiBowl Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Matt Alexander and Mike Kannely
  • Business: Toilet night light
  • Ask: $100,000 for 15% equity
  • Result: $100,000 for 25% equity
  • Shark: Kevin O’Leary

Matt and Mike entered Shark Tank with a simple product: a colorful night light that illuminated the toilet bowl. It was meant to help people find where they needed to go in the middle of the night, without the brightness of a night light. IllumiBowl lights up in 8 different colors and was activated by motion.

Daymond John asked if the light stayed on during the entire visit. They told him that there was a 2-minute timer, but it was activated by motion. Robert Herjavec was confused about why people just wouldn’t use a regular night light. They argued that it was the aiming aspect that made this product unique. Their margins are out of this world, too!

The main drawback was that IllumiBowl didn’t have any sales. Matt and Mike were still approaching retailers and trying to set up an online store.

Daymond was the first to go out, stating that they really didn’t need a shark. Kevin O’Leary, on the other hand, offered $100,000 for 25% equity.

Mark Cuban said it was a product, not a company, and went out. Robert said he wouldn’t make a better offer than Kevin, so he went out too. Lori Greiner, on the other hand, didn’t want to conflict with Squatty Potty. She went out as a result.

Thankfully, Matt and Mike were pleased with Kevin’s deal. They accept his offer! Where does that leave the company? Read the rest of our IllumiBowl update to find out!

An IllumiBowl update segment during Season 8 revealed that the company is still doing the best it can. Despite competing products on the market, they are making up to $2 million in yearly revenue. The price for the product was reduced shortly after airing, and the entrepreneurs report that Kevin is involved with the entire process.
