Amanda and Steve came to Shark Tank with the goal of building a brand that resonates with women looking for fit, flattering athletic wear designed just for them.

Notably, Amanda is a well-known fitness competitor, trainer, and TV host. She gained fame for her toned physique, especially her sculpted glutes.

Steve is also a fitness expert. Together, they bring years of experience in the fitness world to their brand, BootyQueen Apparel.

They are looking for a $250,000 investment to hire an employee and scale their inventory to reach a broader audience beyond bodybuilding.

BootyQueen Apparel is an online retail brand that specializes in athletic wear for women. It emphasizes functional and stylish fitness clothing.

Primarily, the business primarily offers signature leggings made from high-quality, moisture-wicking materials that keep wearers cool and dry during workouts or hot weather.

Furthermore, these leggings, available in various colors and patterns, are designed to fit and enhance the female form.

With a specific cut that lifts and shapes the buttocks, they offer a flattering fit. This design has made them popular among both fitness enthusiasts and casual users.

Additionally, Steve explained their marketing strategy. They leveraged Amanda’s social media following to promote the brand.

Curious about their reach, Mark Cuban asked her how many Instagram followers she had.

In response, Amanda explained that she had 700,000 followers on Instagram and close to a million on other platforms.

So far, they’ve done $375,000 in about 18 months, and it cost $33 to make and $85 to sell.

However, Kevin O’Leary says the industry is too competitive and that this wasn’t the right investment for him. He’s the first shark out.

Mark says he can’t bring any value to the business, given his lack of expertise in that industry. He’s out as well.

Subsequently, Robert Herjavec says he does not like the idea. He exits the negotiations.

Lori Greiner says she’s not the right investor for this business. She declined to invest.

Finally, Daymond pointed out they lacked established distribution channels. Drawing his success with a similar brand, he offered Amanda and Steve $250,000 for a 33% equity.

The entrepreneurs then countered Daymond John by lowering the equity ask to 25%, but he stood his ground.

Ultimately, they agreed to his original offer of one-third of the business.

Shark Tank BootyQueen Apparel Update

Our BootyQueen Apparel update found that the deal with Daymond John successfully closed. Daymond expressed confidence in Amanda’s influence and the brand’s potential.

Following their Shark Tank appearance, the business gained significant media attention.

In 2017, Amanda promoted the brand by making a cameo on Lifetime’s reality show Little Women: Dallas.

Later, in 2018, the apparel was featured in a segment on The Dr. Oz Show.

Furthering their expansion, in January 2019, Amanda opened a retail store in Plano, Texas, marking a significant step in their expansion efforts.

By November 2021, our BootyQueen Apparel update found that the company reported an annual revenue of approximately $3 million.

Despite these earlier successes, the company faced challenges.

Eventually, by mid-2021, BootyQueen Apparel ceased updating its social media accounts, and its website became inactive.

As of August 2023, the brand’s products were unavailable online, indicating a halt in operations.

Our research on the BootyQueen Apparel update found that Amanda and Steve Kuclo divorced in 2022.

Amanda reverted to her maiden name, Amanda Latona, and shifted her focus to other ventures, including her role as an athlete with ALLMAX Nutrition.

Meanwhile, Steve Kuclo remarried and continued his career in bodybuilding and fitness training.

At the time of this writing, BootyQueen Apparel appears to be inactive, with no recent updates or product availability.
