You Kick Ass Update

  • EntrepreneursKeri Andrews and Alesia Glidewell
  • Business: Personalized super hero action figures
  • Ask: $100,000 for 10% equity
  • Result:  $100,000 for 10% equity
  • Sharks:  Mark Cuban

Keri and Alesia passed out their custom made You Kick Ass super hero action figures to each of the sharks. They demonstrated how easy it was for customers to go on their website, upload a photo and then customize their super hero into a toy.

Several of the sharks immediately showed a lot of interest in learning more about the company. Keri and Alesia made clear that the products have not yet come to market, but a single unit costs $15.00 to make, and retail for $60.00. They explained that they make the toys using 3D printers which were still new technology and very expensive. Because production abilities were limited, they could only produce about 100 units per day.

Barbara Corcoran was not impressed with the quality of the action figures and didn’t think the faces looked like them, so she went out. However, Robert Herjavec disagreed with Barbara, and offered the ladies $100,000 for 25% equity. They still wanted to hear other offers before making a deal, and Kevin had an interesting one for them. He offered $100,000 with a $10.00 per unit royalty util he recouped his investment. Then his royalty would drop to $2.50 per unit, plus 5% equity.

Mark Cuban was next to show interest, and offered Keri and Alesia exactly what they asked for. His offer was $100,000 for 10% equity and they quickly accepted. So what happened next for their company? Keep reading our You Kick Ass update to find out!

Our You Kick Ass update is somewhat disappointing, because Mark Cuban never finalized his deal. Sadly, the company eventually went out of business a little over a year after filming. This will be our final You Kick Ass update.
