Shark Tank Sealed by Santa Pitch

Shark Tank Sealed by Santa Update
  • Entrepreneur: Sarah Blaine
  • Business: Personalized letters from “Santa”
  • Ask: $150,000 for 20% equity
  • Result: $75,000 for 22.5% equity + $75,000 loan
  • Shark: Lori Greiner

Sarah entered Shark Tank wearing an elf hat, instantly bringing a festive feel to her Christmas-themed pitch.

A mompreneur from Boca Raton, Sarah sought an investment to grow her business.

She told the sharks her goal was to expand beyond Christmas by introducing Easter Bunny letters. She also planned to improve Santa videos and her marketing efforts.

Sealed by Santa is an e-commerce company that offers personalized letters from Santa, complete with an authentic North Pole postmark.

Parents can easily order these letters online, customizing them with their child’s name and details.

Each letter is printed on luxurious gold parchment, sealed with an authentic Santa stamp, and mailed with a special North Pole postmark to preserve the enchantment of Christmas.

This service is perfect for parents of young children, typically those under nine years old, who still cherish the magic of Santa Claus.

Each letter costs Sarah $1.50 to produce, and she sells them for $10.95, shipping within 24 hours.

Kevin O’Leary raised concerns about managing large volumes, but Sarah reassured him that she has a team of friends who help during the holiday rush.

She mentioned that the previous year’s labor costs totaled $10,000.

The company has seen impressive growth, with $355,000 in sales the previous year, up from $250,000 the year before.

When Kevin questioned the seasonal nature of the business, Sarah mentioned her customer database of 60,000.

She also highlighted her success with Easter letters, which brought in an extra $15,000.

Kevin, intrigued by the customer base, offered $150,000 for 33.3% equity.

At one point, Sarah became emotional, sharing that her husband had left her the same day she received the call from Shark Tank.

Barbara Corcoran offered her support but decided not to invest, citing the seasonal nature of the business.

Mark Cuban also exited the negotiations for similar reasons.

Robert Herjavec offered $150,000 for 33.3% equity. He added the condition that Sarah would keep the first $100,000 in profits, and after that, they would split the earnings.

Lori Greiner made a final offer of $75,000 for 22.5% equity and a $75,000 loan.

Sarah agreed, and she and Lori made a deal.

Let’s get a Sealed by Santa update to see where the company is today.

Shark Tank Sealed by Santa Update

Our Sealed by Santa update found that the deal with Lori Greiner never closed due to managerial disagreement.

Nevertheless, the show’s exposure brought in a wave of new customers.

It also allowed Sarah to expand her product line, offering 12 different types of letters along with other seasonal products.

Beyond the classic Santa letters, Sealed by Santa now includes personalized messages from the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy, making it a year-round business.

In February 2023, our Sealed by Santa update found that Sarah took the holiday experience to the next level by introducing a live video chat with Santa.

Additionally, the business began shipping to Canada, marking its first step into international markets.

Despite the deal with Lori not going through, we are calling this Sealed by Santa update a success.
