How Sean Adler Is Saving Banana’s One Hat At A Time

Nana Hats has recently taken the banana hat world by storm. At the heart of its success is Sean Adler, the passionate founder who pitched on Season 14 of ABC’s Shark Tank. We sat down for an exclusive interview with Sean to get an inside look into his journey from being a fan of the show to pitching in front of the sharks and millions of viewers at home!

From Fan to Entrepreneur

When I asked about his inspiration to appear on Shark Tank, he shared, “I have been a longtime fan of the show since Season 1.”

Being a fan of the show, Sean knew the power of Shark Tank and saw a great opportunity for Nana Hats to grow to the next level.

He elaborated, “I was very familiar with the resources that the sharks are able to provide to their entrepreneurs to really launch their businesses. I always told myself that I would apply if I ever created a product.”

Behind The Scenes of The Pitch

For many, the pitches on Shark Tank are nail-biting experiences, and Sean’s was no exception. However, a quirky incident made it memorable and eased some of his nerves.

“Mr. Wonderful [Kevin O’Leary] actually started peeling and eating a banana during my pitch,” Sean chuckled, “but I didn’t let him distract me!”

For many, this could have easily become a distraction from the pitch. Thankfully, Sean managed to stay focused and didn’t let Kevin’s antics steal the spotlight.

The Highs and Lows of the Shark Tank Experience

The exposure and connections that Shark Tank offers are unparalleled. “The best part about being on Shark Tank is the national exposure it gives your business,” Sean told Shark Tank Recap.

After his episode aired, Nana Hats had an abundance of opportunities. “Our email inbox was flooded with amazing offers such as international distribution and licensing.”

While it was worth it, Sean did say that there were some difficult parts, mainly having to keep your pitch a secret.

Sean shared that the six-month silence was a test of patience, “It was torture to not be able to tell friends or family… but it was all worth it in the end.”

Life After The Tank

So, now that Nana Hats has been featured on Shark Tank Season 14 and the wait is over, how has it helped the company?

“I actually had a really positive experience appearing on Shark Tank and have loved every minute of it since,” Sean us, not ruling out another appearance. “This may sound crazy, but I would totally do it again if I could.”

In terms of the deal with Lori Greiner and Peter Jones, Sean remains tight-lipped: “We are still in active discussion so I am not allowed to comment.”

However, it’s undeniable that the show has been a game-changer for Nana Hats. Their sales after Shark Tank have seen an upward trajectory and show no signs of stopping.

“Our sales after Shark Tank are consistently higher than before. We have a new ‘normal’ in terms of sales numbers, all thanks to the show.”
