  • Entrepreneurs: Anastasia Balyura
  • Business: Wearable, dog Carrier
  • Ask: $25,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $50,000 for 40% equity
  • Sharks: Daymond John

Anastasia entered the tank explaining that she brought Trixie with her wherever she went, even to law school.  She then took off her jacket, only to reveal that Trixie was her adorable long-haired Chihuahua. The little dog was being worn in Anastasia’s Heart Pup carrier. The sharks thought Trixie was adorable.

Anastasia told the sharks that she’d been selling the product for a little less than a year and had made $135,000 in sales. During this timeframe, she has sold 980 units at a price point of $138 each.  She also mentioned that it only costs her $16 for the fabric and production costs. Daymond John was impressed with her margins.

The sharks wanted to know a little bit more about what the money would be used for. Since Anastasia was still hand-making each individual unit, she told the sharks that she would try to use the money to get a factory to manufacture the product, so she could take a larger role on the business side of things.

Robert Herjavec didn’t feel like he was the right shark to make an investment, simply because he didn’t share the same vision for the company as Anastasia. He became the first shark to drop out, forcing Anastasia to negotiate with the four remaining sharks.Mark Cuban dropped out for similar reasons.

Lori Greiner simply thought it was too niche of a product, so she also dropped out. Kevin went out next, stating he didn’t like little dogs. Daymond decided to take a chance on this business and made an offer of $50,000 for 40% equity and Anastasia accepted!
