  • Entrepreneurs: Anastasia Balyura
  • Business: Wearable dog carrier
  • Ask: $25,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $50,000 for 40% equity
  • Sharks: Daymond John

Anastasia entered Shark Tank Season 6 with her constant companion, Trixie, who accompanied her even to law school. To the surprise of the sharks, Anastasia revealed Trixie, an adorable long-haired Chihuahua, as she took off her jacket. Trixie was snugly nestled in Anastasia’s Heart Pup carrier.

While the sharks found Trixie undeniably cute, they were more interested in learning about the business itself.

Anastasia shared that she had been selling her Heart Pup carrier for nearly a year and had achieved $135,000 in sales. She had sold 980 units at a price point of $138 each. Her production costs, including fabric, amounted to only $16 per unit, impressing Daymond John with her favorable profit margins.

The sharks inquired about Anastasia’s plans for the investment if they were to partner with Heart Pup. Currently hand-making each unit, Anastasia expressed her intention to utilize the funds to establish a factory for manufacturing, allowing her to focus more on the business side of operations.

Robert Herjavec, feeling misaligned with Anastasia’s vision for the company, became the first shark to drop out, followed by Mark Cuban, citing similar reasons.

Lori Greiner found the product to niche and opted out, while Kevin dismissed the opportunity due to his personal preference for small dogs.

Daymond, however, saw potential in the business and took a chance. He offered $50,000 for 40% equity, an offer that Anastasia accepted.

We’ve got some great news to share in our Heart Pup update. Anastasia is still running the company and annual revenue is around $500,000. She has also continued to expand the product line, bringing in new customers and more sales.

Those interested can purchase Heart Pup products on the company’s official website.
