Third Wave Water Update | Shark Tank Season 9

Coffee shop owner Taylor Minor has customers that ask how to get their home-brewed coffee to taste like what he makes at the coffee shop. At the coffee shop, Taylor has a machine that adds minerals into water, but that is too expensive for the average joe to have at home. So, Charles Nick and Taylor have developed a mineral stick to add to distilled water that will make water smoother and more acidic for the perfect cup of coffee. Do the sharks feel their homebrewed coffee needs a pick-me-up during the Season 9 pitch? Let’s find out in this Shark Tank Third Wave Water update.

Shark Tank Third Wave Water Update

Third Wave Water Update

  • Entrepreneur: Charles Nick and Taylor Minor
  • Business: Mineral stick to add to distilled water for brewing coffee
  • Ask: $100,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $100,000 for 25% equity with $1 royalty on each unit sold until $100,000 has been paid
  • Shark: Barbara Corcoran

After their intro and introduction to the company, things got rolling in the tank. Lori Greiner felt the steps of purchasing distilled water and adding in the minerals before brewing was just too many steps for the average consumer and dropped out. Robert Herjavec agreed and also went out; it was too fancy for him.

Kevin O’Leary felt the market was too small and it would take too much to reach it, so he dropped out. Mark Cuban agreed and went out as well.

Barbara Corcoran discussed that the steps were very tedious, but was very impressed by the product. She offered $100,000 for 33.3% and a royalty of $1 per unit until $100,000 is paid. She explained she could help them find the market for their product.

Taylor countered with $100,000 for 25% with the $1 royalty until $100,000 had been paid. Barbara took that deal and admitted that is what she was going for anyway.

At the time of this Third Wave Water update, the company is still in business and has three different variations of its water additive on its website. One is specifically for dark roast coffee, one for coffee and tea made in a coffee pot, and one for coffee and tea made in an espresso machine.

We do have some bad news for our Third Wave Water update, as the deal with Barbara ended up falling through. But when the show aired, they sold out of all their inventory and are still in business at the time of writing.
