PIE Wine update

PIE Wine Update | Shark Tank Season 15

Josh Green and Kevin Klein couldn’t find a wine that actually paired well with pizza, so they created PIE Wine. It’s a lightly carbonated wine made specifically to pair with pizza. The result is a fun, flavorful drink sold in packs, but growing demand has left them sold out and needing help to scale. Let’s see how the negotiations go for them in our PIE Wine update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank PIE Wine Pitch

Shark Tank PIE Wine Update
  • Entrepreneurs: Kevin Klein and Josh Green
  • Business: Canned sweet wine, that pairs with pizza
  • Ask: $200,000 for 7.5% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Josh and Kevin opened their pitch with pizza and their canned wine samples, explaining that Italians have long enjoyed slightly sweet, bubbly wines like Lambrusco with pizza.

PIE Wine builds on that tradition, with the tagline “Born in Italy, Perfected in California.”

The company launched just two weeks before filming. Despite that, they already had distribution in eight states and secured commitments worth $300,000 to $400,000.

In addition, they were in talks with distributors across 18 more states.

They projected over $500,000 in sales in the next 30 days and expected to hit $1.5 million by the end of the year.

Mark Cuban asked if they were working full-time on PIE Wine. Kevin said he’s a morning radio host on K-Rock in Los Angeles.

Josh runs a large computer gaming company and has a background in investment banking.

Despite their day jobs, both said they were fully committed to making PIE Wine work. They had invested over $300,000 of their own money into the business.

In terms of pricing, each can costs $1.50 to make, and they plan to reduce that to $1.25 with higher production. They sell to distributors at $3.25 per can.

Mr. Wonderful liked the product and saw growth in the sparkling wine space, but said he was launching his own wine line and stepped out.

Mark also passed due to a conflict with BeatBox Beverages, a company he invested in.

Daymond John said he didn’t see how he could add value. In response, Josh offered a unique deal: if a shark didn’t like the partnership after a year, they’d buy them out.

Daymond appreciated the gesture but still passed, saying there were too many competitors, including the sharks themselves.

Lori Greiner said she liked the concept but felt it was too early to invest. She also passed.

Guest shark Candace Nelson thought the product was fun and liked the branding, but said the niche was too specific for her.

Ultimately, all five sharks passed on PIE Wine, forcing Josh and Kevin to leave without a deal.

Will they manage to break out into the market without the help of a shark? Keep reading our PIE Wine update to find out.

Shark Tank PIE Wine Update

In terms of a PIE Wine update, despite not landing a deal, the founders moved fast.

Within two weeks, they launched pre-orders and secured distribution in eight states.

Momentum built quickly. In March 2024, PIE Wine was featured at the International Pizza Expo.

PIE Wine now offers three flavor options: Red, Sweet Za, and Crisp White. It’s available in 4 packs for $20 and 12 packs for $60. They also sell merchandise for the die-hard PIE Wine fans.

While we couldn’t find any updated revenue numbers for our PIE Wine update, its social media channels are still active.

As more information about a PIE Wine update becomes available, we’ll be sure to let you know!
