Zander presented his package delivery service app, Doorman, to the sharks. He explained that his platform allows users to have their packages shipped to a Doorman warehouse and delivered on their schedule. For example, if a client wants a package delivered at 10 PM, they can have the Doorman receive the package at their pickup facility and the Doorman will deliver that package back to their home address at that time. This concept solved a major problem for consumers ordering online.
Some of the sharks were certainly interested, but they wanted to learn more about the company before committing to an investment. Zander told the sharks that his customers can have a package delivery scheduled for just $3.99, while subscribers can have unlimited packages for a $19.00 monthly subscription fee.
Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, and Lori Greiner, were all interested in going in together for a deal, offering Zander $250,000 for 20%. Â Zander hesitated and Robert asked him for a counter, to which he asked for $250,000 for 12%. Eventually Lori and Barbara dropped out, and Robert and Zander agreed to $250,000 for 12%. We have some unfortunate news to share. Research for our Doorman update revealed that the company shut down, ceasing operations after securing a deal with Robert. It’s unclear why the company had to shut down but it looks like the trajectory to expand was too significant for Zander and his company to overcome. This will be our final Doorman update.
