Donna lit up the tank with her energy and enthusiasm when she pitched her product and business, Fat Ass Fudge. Her fudge was her personal take on her grandmother’s fudge recipe, which used goat milk instead of cow for a lactose-free, gluten-free, delectable dessert that all the sharks enjoyed thoroughly.
Kevin O’Leary asked what about sales, and Donna revealed that she had $60,000 in sales over the past twelve months. Further questioning revealed that Donna’s business model involved her personally selling at farmers markets, and a couple of Whole Foods locations. Kevin, not interested in investing, was the first shark to go out.
Barbara Corcoran spoke next, but shared that she didn’t feel that making money was the real priority for Donna and, for that reason, she was out.
Daymond John went out next, telling Donna that he enjoyed her energy and the fudge but it was not a business for him. Robert Herjavec and Mark Cuban then followed out. We have great news for Fat Ass Fudge! After the episode aired, the company enjoyed a surge in sales, but it was far from an overnight success. It would be another year before she was approached by Linda Johnson, owner of Chocology Unlimited, who purchased Fat Ass Fudge from Donna for just under $1 million. As of 2022, Fat Ass Fudge is still available for purchase from the Chocology Unlimited web site.
