Magic Moments Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Trevor George, Blake George, and Sanford Nelson
  • Business: Photo merchandise app
  • Ask: $500,000 in exchange for 15% equity
  • Result: No Deal
  • Sharks: None

Trevor, Blake and Sanford brought their mobile app platform, Magic Moments to the tank. It lets users select their favorite mobile photo and order an item, such as a coffee mug or throw pillow, custom-printed with the photo. It also allows users to select other peoples’ photos for merchandise, too, for a fee.

The trio’s shark troubles began right after their pitch. Daymond John and others seemed skeptical that there would not be privacy concerns given that people could sell photos and merchandise bearing the image of other people they knew, without the subject’s consent.

Trevor said that Magic Moments had just secured a deal with CafePress. He explained that CafePress’ legal team would screen and approve or deny each photo uploaded to their platform. Mark Cuban asked Trevor why a potential customer wouldn’t just go to CafePress for the service, and Trevor clarified that they were the mobile arm of CafePress via an exclusive licensing agreement.

Kevin O’Leary didn’t buy their valuation, so he was the first shark to go out. Mark told the three that if he had a photo he wanted to monetize, it would be much easier to “transfer it over to a PC or a web-based interface” than to edit and upload a picture from his smartphone, so he too went out.

Daymond inquired about their sales numbers. When Trevor stated that they were pre-revenue, Daymond went out. Lori Greiner didn’t understand why someone would want to buy someone else’s pictures online, so she went out next. Robert Herjavec shared their concerns, and also went out.

With that, the shutter closed on Magic Moments, and the guys walked away without a deal. What happened next for their company? Keep reading our Magic Moments update to find out!

Our research reveals that the company disappeared without a trace sometime in 2013. Sadly, this will be our final Magic Moments update.
