Shark Tank Beneath the Ink Update

Beneath the Ink Update

  • Entrepreneurs:  Alex Milewski and Sherisse Hawkins
  • Business: eBooks enhancement links
  • Ask: $350,000 for 10% equity
  • Result:  No deal
  • Sharks:  None

Alex and Sherisse brought their Beneath the Ink program to the tank. They demonstrated how links which they call, “Binks” or Beneath the Ink links, can be inserted into stories, for the purpose of  revealing additional information that in turn enhances content. From panoramic photos, to character facts, possibilities are endless for authors to jazz up their eBooks.

When asked how the company makes money, Sherisse told the sharks that they had a total of three revenue streams. The first is through a licensing model for large corporations, the second is through an author-subscription fee of $12.00 per month and the third model includes an export fee of $199.00. There were a few major problems for the sharks. The first being that the company was pre revenue, with only 8 titles signed up for their service. Kevin O’Leary was the first shark to drop out, simply because it was too early to invest.

Mark Cuban had too many issues with the company, so he went out. Lori Greiner, Barbara Corcoran and Robert Herjavec didn’t see the vision and felt it was too early to invest, so they all went out as well. With no offers from the sharks, Alex and Sherisse were forced to leave the tank without a deal. What happened next for their company? Keep reading our Beneath the Ink update to find out!

Our Beneath the Ink update is quite interesting because the company has completely refocused and rebranded since appearing on Shark Tank. They are now called Pagedip and instead focuses on content management. You can learn more on the Pagedip website.
