Jason Thomas, brings his company, Pili Hunters, to Shark Tank Season 11, Episode 6. He shares that during a trip to the Phillippines, he found out about pili nuts, a delicious, low-calorie, high-fat nut.

Some research revealed that no one in America uses these unique nuts in their products. Because of this, he brought ten pounds of pili nuts home from his trip, and immediately set about building his business.

These nuts are great for keto and paleo. They are also vegan and vegetarian, and can even be used to make a variety of nut butter, snack nuts, and chocolate bars.

Jason’s numbers say it all, because he’s done over $2.5 million in sales since starting the company 4.5 years ago. When he first started, he was packaging Pili Hunters snack nuts in a hotel room!

In the four years since, he has created jobs, and now has the chance to expand his business. The sharks love the products, and enjoy the samples, but they have some concerns.

Guest shark Daniel Lubetzky, and founder of KIND, is the first shark to drop out, mostly because of the nightmare that would come with obtaining a steady supply of nuts. He thinks that integrating new nuts into existing product lines rarely works.

Daniel goes on to share that scaling and branding Pili Hunters, would be difficult unless he owned pili nut plantations.

Lori Greiner loves the product, but it just isn’t right for her.

Kevin O’Leary has an issue with the valuation for Pili Hunters, and worries about growth.

Robert Herjavec is out as well, with some advice for Jason. He says to focus on one product, instead of creating a whole line right away.

Last but not least, is Mark Cuban. He thinks that Jason is incredible, and that he has achieved the American dream. However, he also feels that Jason needs a full team to properly expand the business.

Further, Mark isn’t willing to provide the help, and drops out. With that, Jason is forced to leave Shark Tank without a deal.

Did Jason manage to keep his dream going, despite not getting a deal? Find out in our Pili Hunters update!
