When a debilitating back injury threatened to derail three-time world heavyweight champion Diamond, a medical professional suggested yoga was his last resort. Reluctantly, he took up yoga training in a last ditch effort to save his back and his career, and he quickly became a believer. Building on what he learned, he added strength and resistance training to yoga, and developed DDP Yoga.
Listen up, guys: If you think yoga is just for earthy-crunchy New Agers, think again! Three-time World Champion Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page one of the biggest superstars in professional wrestling is here to prove that yoga is for regular guys, too.
Dallas and his business partner Steve, started the company two years earlier. The two invited one of their program’s adherents, disabled veteran Arthur Boorman, onto the stage to demonstrate how the program had completely transformed his life in under a year. We must admit, it was very compelling!
In the first year, the company crushed their projections and earned $2.6 million in sales, mostly selling the program’s books and DVDS. They came to the sharks seeking $200,000 to put toward the company’s first mobile application.
Mark Cuban agreed that they needed to shift to mobile and streamable content, but it would would take more than he would want to invest. Daymond John wasn’t interested in investing in another fitness program, and Barbara Corcoran didn’t like to invest in trends. Robert Herjavec didn’t like the business plan, and Kevin O’Leary didn’t like the low equity. All of the sharks were out.
With no sharks willing to invest, Diamond and Steve left without a deal. What happened next for the company? Keep reading our DDP Yoga update to find out!
