Shark Tank Major Mom Update

Angela entered Shark Tank in full camouflage, immediately capturing the sharks’ attention.

She introduced Major Mom, a professional organizing business, and asked for $150,000 for 20% equity.

Her team, called “liberators,” specialized in transforming messy spaces into well-organized environments.

To illustrate the impact of her service, she presented before-and-after photos and outlined her plan to expand through franchising.

Lori Greiner was curious about Angela’s background in the Air Force. In response, Angela shared a photo of herself at Vandenberg Air Force Base, where she once had her hand on the key to the U.S. nuclear arsenal.

The conversation then shifted to her franchise plans. Angela explained that new franchise owners would need $20,000 for a license and an additional $5,000 for marketing.

However, Kevin O’Leary questioned whether $25,000 was too steep for new business owners. He then asked what kind of profits a franchisee could expect in the first year.

Angela admitted that a $30,000 return would be a strong result, which raised concerns for Kevin.

He pointed out that investing $25,000 upfront to make just $30,000 in revenue was not an attractive deal. He also questioned how she planned to repay a shark’s investment.

Angela explained that Major Mom needed 150 franchises, and 90% of them would have to be highly successful to make the investment worthwhile.

However, Mark Cuban and Kevin both doubted that such a goal was realistic.

Lori then asked why Angela wouldn’t continue growing the business at a steady pace instead of franchising so quickly. Angela’s response stating it just wasn’t fun, took the sharks by surprise.

Robert Herjavec acknowledged that the business model had potential, but he believed the $25,000 franchise cost was too high to attract widespread interest.

Consequently, he felt Major Mom wasn’t ready for franchising and, despite his appreciation for the concept, he dropped out.

Kevin believed the business’s success depended on finding franchisees with Angela’s same skills and motivation, which he thought would be difficult. Because of that, he decided not to invest.

Daymond John agreed that the franchise cost was too high and saw challenges in scaling the business nationwide. He chose to step away as well.

Mark respected Angela’s work and said her business was noble. However, he was concerned about her statement regarding fun.

He reminded her that business often involves long, repetitive work and suggested that her need for excitement could make her the wrong long-term partner. Therefore, he was out.

Lori advised her to focus on becoming the leading professional organizing service in a smaller region instead of expanding too fast. Nevertheless, she ultimately decided not to invest.

Shark Tank Major Mom Update

Our Major Mom update found that after Shark Tank, the company saw an immediate boost, generating 139 new leads, 18 clients, and $16,752 in sales from post-show traffic.

In 2017, Angela Cody-Rouget expanded operations, training over 54 “Liberators” and employing 32 in Denver and Phoenix.

Further, the company operated 14 locations across five states In 2021, bringing in $5 million in annual revenue.

In early 2022, Major Mom rebranded to Major Organizers to better reflect its mission and services.

However, after the rebranding, updates on the company became scarce. Social media activity stopped in 2021, and its operational status remains unclear.

At the time of this writing, Angela still promotes the Major Mom brand for speaking engagements and educational purposes.
