Shark Tank Cashmere Hair Update

Cashmere Hair Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Rachel Barone, Melissa Bernstein
  • Business: Clip-in hair extensions
  • Ask: $45,000 in exchange for 15% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Sharks: None

Rachel and hairstylist Melissa, brought their company Cashmere Hair, to the tank. They told the sharks that their clip-in hair extensions were a great alternative to naturally long hair. They bought real human hair that was then dyed and processed to specifications. Users could clip in the extensions that matched their own hair, style it as usual, and go.

Each seven-piece, clip-in hair extension set cost the company $105 on average. They retailed their extension sets for $399. The company had only been in business for six months at the time of filming. They had made $38,000 since starting out, and wanted to get their product into salons. They even had plans for branded hair extension parties where they brought the product to the users.

Mark Cuban felt that the women’s profit margins were high and their ask was low. Kevin O’Leary implied the women didn’t have a good strategy. Daymond John said it was too early to invest. All three sharks went out.

Robert Herjavec complimented Rachel and Melissa on a great start, and asked how they planned to market their product so that everyone would know about it. Melissa explained that social media had already won their product many sales.

Lori Greiner and Robert thought that the women were on the right track with the plan to get their extensions into salons, however, they felt it was too early to invest and went out. Rachel and Melissa left without a deal, but what happened next for their company? Keep reading our Cashmere Hair update to find out!
