Hoppy Paws Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Trina Barkouras
  • Business: Holiday floor stamps
  • Ask: $50,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $100,000 for 49% equity
  • Sharks: Barbara Corcoran

Trina entered the tank with a full display of her Hoppy Prints stamping kits. As she passed out samples to the sharks, she explained that her food grade stamping powder could easily be removed from any surface. Targeting just about every season, this fun, novelty item helped parents make the holidays more exciting for their kids.

Without scaling the production, Trina told the sharks that it costs her $2.00 to make a single kit of holiday stamps, and she plans on selling them for $7.99. Her goal would be to expand and sell her product in a variety of retail stores like Walgreens, but for now, she was just starting out. Robert Herjavec told Trina that he was impressed with her but didn’t think his kids would be interested in the product, so he went out.

Kevin O’Leary and the other sharks joked that they would pitch in $5,000 each but Barbara Corcoran decided to make her a real deal. She offered $100,000 for 50% equity, but Trina wanted to remain a majority shareholder, so she counter-offered Barbara for 49%. Trina agreed, walking away with a deal! What happened with her company next? Keep reading our Hoppy Paws update to find out!

Sadly, we don’t have great news to share. Our Hoppy Paws update shows that the company had an initial boost after appearing on Shark Tank, but ultimately failed to grow and expand in the ways that it needed to in order to remain in business. At the beginning of 2019,  Trina decided to shut down Hoppy Paws and move on from the idea entirely. This will be our final Hoppy Paws update.
