HotShot Coffee Update | Shark Tank Season 7

Iced coffee is a huge hit, so why can’t we have hot coffee ready to go at a moment’s notice? Danny Grossfeld came upon this idea during a trip to Japan, where such products are very popular. HotShot coffee is kept hot in a “HotBox”, perfectly heated and ready to go at any moment. Find out what happened when Danny brought his coffee product to Shark Tank Season 7 in our HotShot update.

Shark Tank HotShot Update

HotShot Update

  • Entrepreneur: Danny Grossfeld
  • Business: Hot coffee beverage in an aluminum can
  • Ask: $300,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Shark: None

Danny’s pitch began with a home segment, where he explained how he came across this idea and a little about his family background. Fast forward to the tank, and he gave a very concise description of what HotShot was. He also introduced the sharks to the heated “refrigerator”, which keeps the coffee hot.

The sharks were amazed at how hot the coffee was. Danny passed out samples after explaining that the coffee was heated to 140 degrees. Without the insulated label, you wouldn’t be able to hold the cans. The sharks think the coffee is good.

However, Danny’s sales numbers were less impressive. He explained that he has spent $2 million to develop the technology over about 6 years. The company hadn’t launched yet, so he had no sales. However, he had plenty of interest from movie theaters.

Kevin O’Leary was out immediately because of the lack of sales. Robert Herjavec said there were plenty of all-night coffee shops and the product was unnecessary. He went out, too.

Guest shark Chris Sacca had a competing company, so he went out also. Mark Cuban said he’d put the product in his Landmark Theater chain but didn’t want to invest.

Lori Greiner was the last remaining shark. She said that it wasn’t going to work and left as well. Keep reading our HotShot update to find out where the company is today.

Despite not getting a deal on Shark Tank, HotShot is thriving! Danny managed to shift the focus from “hot coffee at home” to a larger consumer market, with convenience stores, movie theatres, and traveling shows. Our HotShot update research revealed that annual revenue as of 2022 is about $2 million.

You can find HotShot coffee at Malco Theatres in Tennessee, as well as in the NY Metropolitan area. Dozens of locations sell the product, including Walt Disney World. It’s a huge win for HotShot!

Unfortunately, you can no longer order HotShot for personal use. You’ll have to track down this popular coffee at the locations where it’s sold.
