Metric Mate Update | Shark Tank Season 14

Metric Mate came onto Shark Tank Season 14 with the hopes of raising $100,000 in exchange for 5% equity. The innovative smart-fitness product was pitched by Braxton Davis, MT Strickland, and Ecleamus Ricks. Let’s see if they managed to earn a deal before we give you the Metric Mate update.

Shark Tank Metric Mate Update

Metric Mate Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Braxton Davis, MT Strickland, and Excleamus Ricks
  • Business: Smart fitness device
  • Ask: $100,000 for 5% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Sharks: None

Metric Mate’s smart fitness device collects workout data to hold people accountable during their fitness training. This data can then be distributed in several ways through a mobile app. The technology supports a variety of mobile devices and tablets.

While the sharks seemed to like the Metric Mate demonstration, not all of them were convinced that the $100,000 investment was worth it. They wanted to learn more about the company’s finances before making their decisions.

To produce about 1,000 units of the product, the landed cost would be about $100 per unit and they planned to sell it for $200. Further, the three entrepreneurs were planning to partner with fitness trainers to get feedback on it while they saved up for the funding they needed to go direct to consumers.

The sharks disagreed with this model, but Braxton, MT, and Excleamus made it very clear that they would be happy to go direct to consumers if they could get the funding needed.

Several of the sharks showed no interest in making an offer, but Kevin O’Leary decided to jump in and offer $100,000 for 25% equity. After some intense counteroffers, the three entrepreneurs decided to pass and Metric Mate left without a deal.

Without a deal in the tank, let’s get a Metric Mate update. Braxton, MT, and Excleamus have continued to grow their company since appearing on Shark Tank and have undoubtedly received a big boost in branding and marketing by being on the show.

At the time of writing, it looks like the Metric Mate is still only available for preorders through the official website. Hopefully the exposure from the show will help kickstart things soon, though.

We will check back in later for another Metric Mate update.
