Shark Tank Naja Update

Naja Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Catalina Girald
  • Business: Women’s lingerie
  • Ask: $500,000 for 5% equity
  • Result:  No deal
  • Sharks:  None

Catalina entered the tank with a display of her lingerie line, Naja. She explained how her brand supports women, from the positive messaging inside each pair of underwear, to her company’s mission to support women. Catalina trains and employs single mothers to sew her products, which is a noble cause. She passed out samples to each of the sharks and they were impressed with the designs.

In the 5 months prior to filming, the company had earned $145,000 in sales. Catalina shared that it costs $7.00 to make a bra, and she sells it for $60.00 on her website, with a margin of about 72%. She told the sharks that the average amount spent per customer order was $80.00. Her pitch began to fall apart however, when asked about her valuation.

Kevin O’Leary had a major disagreement with her imputed valuation of $10 million, but she defended it by suggesting that she had raised a lot of money in Silicon Valley. Kevin seemed to be very agitated about that response, but he didn’t immediately drop out. Mark Cuban was worried about her numbers, so he dropped out. Robert Herjavec liked her designs but it was too early to invest, so he too went out.

Kevin offered Catalina $500,000 for 50% equity, but she shot the offer down quickly, so he also went out. Lori Greiner and Daymond John didn’t like Catalina’s approach or valuation, so they were the last sharks to go out. With no deal from the sharks, Catalina was forced to leave the tank empty handed. What happened next for her company? Keep reading our Naja update to find out!

We have good news to share in our Naja update! It turns out that the company is still in business and has steadily grown since appearing on Shark Tank. It certainly seems like the sharks may have missed out on an opportunity to make some money with Catalina. Products are available on the Naja website.
