Bantam Bagels Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Nick Oleksak, Elyse Oleksak
  • Business: Bagel bites filled with cream cheese
  • Ask: $275,000 for 11% equity
  • Result: $275,000 for 25% equity

Nick and Elyse brought their mini bagel bites into the tank. Nick shared that one night he had a dream of little bagel balls filled with cream cheese, and he and his wife decided to make his dream a reality. They passed out samples and several of the sharks were impressed with the flavor of the bagels. The couple explained that they were currently selling them out their little New York City restaurant.

Kevin O’Leary wanted to know what they would use an investment for. The ultimate vision was to revamp the website and set up a commercial kitchen. Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec, both dropped, uninterested in making an offer. Barbara Corcoran was the first shark to show interest, and she offered the couple $275,000 for 51% equity.

Kevin jumped in with some contingencies, along with an offer of $275,000 for 50%. Lori Greiner decided to offer $275,000 in exchange for 30% equity. Elyse countered Barbara with $275,000 for 25% and before she could answer, Lori jumped in, frustrated with the time it was taking to make a deal. Elyse then asked Lori if she would drop her offer down to $275,000 for 25% and she agreed, so the couple quickly took her deal.

After all the back in forth in the tank, Nick and Elyse managed to strike a deal, but what happened next for their business? Keep reading our Bantam Bagels update to find out!

While the sharks wouldn’t realize it at the time of filming, this company would be one of the most iconic and successful companies to ever appear on Shark Tank. Research for our Bantam Bagel update revealed that Bantam Bagels went on to have their products featured in Starbucks, Delta Airlines and various grocers. In addition, the company was apparently acquired for more than $30 million back in 2018, but Elyse continues to run the business even in 2022. While the company website appears to be down in 2023, their products seem to still be available in stores.
