Shark Tank Snag A Stool Update
- Entrepreneurs: Jamie Manning and Dean Whitney
- Business: Mobile app for bar stool reservations
- Ask: $120,000 for 18% equity
- Result: No deal
- Sharks: None
Jamie and Dean brought their mobile app service, Stag A Stool to the tank. They claimed to be the first and only app that ensures you get the best seat at your favorite bar. Users select the bar, date and time and the number of barstools they want to reserve and the bar offers incentives for customers to arrive at off-peak times. They explained that the app was a win-win for both the bar and the customer.
One of the major problems for the sharks was that the company had only established partnerships with 3 bars in the Boston area. With that being said, the company hadn’t even generated any revenue due to the fact that these initial partnerships were designated as a “proof of concept”. Sharks started dropping out quite quickly.
Mark Cuban was first to drop out and Daymond John went out quickly after stating he wasn’t a bar guy. Robert Herjavec didn’t believe there was a need for the app, so he also dropped out. Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary felt it was too early for an investment, so they went out as well. With no offers from the sharks, the guys were forced to leave the tank without a deal, but what happened next for their company? Keep reading our Snag A Stool update to find out!
We have sad news to share in our Snag A Stool update. Unfortunately, the company went out of business not long after filming the episode. The early-phase of their company was a major concern to the sharks and it seems that Jamie and Dean were never able to scale their business in an effective way.
