TRUFIT Customs Update

TRUFIT Customs Update | Shark Tank Season 16

Traditional mouthguards are bulky, uncomfortable, and make it hard for athletes to communicate during games. While custom-fit options from dentists are an upgrade, they’re expensive and sometimes inconvenient. To address this situation, Matthew Hall came up with TRUFIT Customs—slim, affordable, 3D-printed mouthguards that fit comfortably. These mouthguards allow athletes to stay protected while communicating clearly. Let’s see if Matthew managed to secure a deal with any of the sharks in our TRUFIT Customs update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank TRUFIT Customs Pitch

Shark Tank TRUFIT Customs Update
  • Entrepreneur: Matthew Hall
  • Business: Custom-fit mouthguards
  • Ask: $750,000 for 5% equity
  • Result: $750,000 for 10% equity
  • Shark: Rashaun Williams

Matthew began his pitch with a clear mission: to change the game for athletes through TRUFIT Customs.

His company offers athletes custom-fit mouthguards using advanced 3D printing technology, making them more comfortable and protective.

Matthew is looking for an investment to boost production and expand his direct-to-consumer model.

TRUFIT Customs specializes in creating 3D-printed mouthguards, nightguards, and carbon fiber insoles, all tailored to athletes’ needs.

By using dental scans and digital manufacturing, they ensure a precise, comfortable fit that improves safety and performance, helping athletes breathe and communicate better during play.

Focusing on professional athletes, the company supplies gear to NFL teams, NHL players, and combat sports athletes.

TRUFIT Customs is available through its website, and a customization process guarantees the perfect fit.

What sets it apart is its cutting-edge technology, which allows it to scale quickly and stand out in the sports industry.

Each unit costs $31 to produce and is sold for $95, resulting in a strong profit margin of 67%.

Despite a $23 customer acquisition cost, they maintain a 40% margin on first-time customers.

Since launching in 2022, they’ve generated $115,000 in their first year, followed by $750,000 in 2023, and are on track to hit $1.4 million in 2024.

With a prior valuation of $7.5 million, they’ve already raised $1 million and have over 1,000 professional athletes using their products across multiple leagues.

Mark Cuban says he has issues with the high valuation. He’s the first shark to exit the negotiations.

Similarly, Daymond John echoed Mark’s concerns and he’s out as well.

Kevin O’Leary offered $750,000 for 3% equity but with a royalty structure of $2 per unit sold until he recoups $2,250,000. However, Matthew did not accept this offer.

Lori Greiner also has issues with the high valuation and concerns about how long it would take her to recoup her investment. For those reasons, she’s out of the deal.

Guest shark Rashaun Williams offered $750,000 for 10% equity, with plans to involve 10 to 20 athletes as brand ambassadors or investors.

Matthew counters with $1,000,000 for 8% equity, but Rasahun immediately rejects the counteroffer.

After some consideration, Matthew accepts his offer, and they make a deal.

Was this the best deal for Matthew? Let’s find out in our TRUFIT Customs update.
