Splash Place Swim Goggles Update | Shark Tank Season 15

Ashley was frustrated that her kids’ swim goggles kept breaking, and the rubber straps pulled their hair. She came up with Splash Place Swim Goggles, which have a soft, stretchy fabric band instead of rubber. They’re easier for kids to put on, more comfortable, and don’t tangle hair. Will the sharks think it’s worth investing in? Let’s find out in our Splash Place Swim Goggles update and pitch recap.

Ashley, alongside her mum, Karen, pitched Splash Place Swim Goggles to the sharks.

She explained that most kids’ swim goggles have tight rubber straps that break easily, feel uncomfortable, and pull hair.

Her solution was to replace those straps with a soft, stretchy fabric band. This design makes the goggles easy for kids to put on by themselves and keeps them from breaking during use.

It also prevents straps from tangling in hair, which is a common problem, especially for girls.

Ashley and Karen explained that the goggles are patent-pending and the only ones on the market that use swimsuit-quality fabric for the straps.

They offer more than 25 fabrics and color designs so kids can choose styles they like or match them to their swimsuits.

The sharks were impressed by the idea and curious about how the business started.

Ashley shared that after losing her infant son and facing her partner’s severe brain injury, she began a sewing business to support her family.

When her older son’s goggles broke, she made a fabric strap to fix them. That idea became Splash Place Swim Goggles.

When asked about sales, the founders revealed the company launched in 2017 and has made $6.1 million in lifetime sales.

The year before filming, sales hit $1.75 million, and the business is profitable. They sell internationally on Amazon, through their website, and in retail stores.

The goggles retail for $21 and cost $3 to make. Fourteen part-time working moms make the goggles for them.

The founders admitted they needed the investment to buy new molds and move forward with big-box retail deals.

Kevin O’Leary told them he didn’t think they needed a shark and went out. Robert Herjavec said he would be a big customer but didn’t see a way to add enough value, so he also passed.

Lori Greiner offered $200,000 for 10% equity. Ashley countered with 7.5%, but Lori refused to change her offer.

After a short discussion, Ashley and Karen accepted Lori’s original deal.

Shark Tank Splash Place Swim Goggles Update

In terms of our Splash Swim Goggles update, Lori was very enthusiastic about the product even after their episode aired.

But based on our research, we can’t explicitly say the deal was successful, as there is no publicly available information to prove that.

However, in the weeks that followed, sales surged. In May 2024, Splash Swim Goggles expanded its product range beyond swim goggles to include snorkels, towels, and bags.

Their products are now sold on their website, Amazon, and in hundreds of independent retail stores, with plans for big-box retail through Lori’s connections.

If you need comfortable, hair-friendly goggles, you can purchase them directly from their website. You can see their latest designs on Instagram.

We’re really hoping that the deal with Lori went through, because of her track record with family-friendly products.
