Shirah shared with the sharks that she came up with the idea in a dream after a friend of hers had her drink spiked in college.

She eventually got to work on the first prototype, which she made out of her mom’s pantyhose and a scrunchie.

Fast-forward a few months, and the first Nightcap was finally born.

In the 11 months that the product has been sold, Shirah and Michael have managed to get $68,000 in sales, with the majority of them coming over the last few months.

It currently costs $2.82 to make a Nightcap, and they retail for $11.99. However, Shirah shared that they could get the cost down to $1.60 at scale.

Michael shared during the Shark Tank pitch that the rise in sales was due to website optimization. Additionally, a better understanding of social media ads helped them as well.

The brother and sister duo also shared that they had received some startup money from their parents and an IndieGoGo campaign. They also shared that they have competed in four startup competitions and won all of them.

Lori Greiner instantly fell in love with the scrunchie cover and was passionate about helping solve the drink-spiking problem that many college girls fall victim to.

She wasted no time and offered Shirah and her brother Michael $60,000 for 25% equity in Nightcap, which they accepted.
