Gavin Batarse, an 8-year-old baseball player, got tired of using messy, outdated methods to break in his stiff new glove, like ovens, shaving cream, or sleeping on it. So with help from his dad, Jon Batarse, and his sister, Morgan Batarse, he created Glove Wrap. The solution is a thick rubber band designed to wrap around a glove with a ball inside, forming the perfect pocket overnight. Will this family’s simple fix for a classic baseball problem win over the sharks? Let’s find out in our Glove Wrap update and pitch recap.

Breaking in a stiff new baseball glove can be a pain. Some players drive over it, bake it in the oven, or slather it in shaving cream just to soften it up. Gavin thought there had to be a better way.

So, he came up with Glove Wrap, a thick elastic band shaped to fit perfectly around a glove with a ball inside.

It helps mold the glove naturally, without damaging the leather. All you do is put a baseball in the glove, wrap it tight, and let it sit.

The result is a game-ready glove with a perfect pocket.

Kevin O’Leary asked about sales. Gavin said they’d sold over 1,000 units and made $19,000 in total revenue.

Each unit costs $3.99 to make, wholesales for $10, and retails for $19.99.

They were already selling on Amazon, their website, and in six local shops. They had also just pitched to Big 5 Sporting Goods, who wanted to carry Glove Wrap in stores.

Barbara Corcoran wondered what made it different from regular fitness bands.

Jon explained that Glove Wrap is made to match glove dimensions, which most exercise bands can’t do.

Mark Cuban said he could see pro teams using it or handing it out at games. Kevin joked that Gavin might have to quit school if he got a deal, then bowed out.

Lori Greiner and Barbara also passed, but both agreed Mark would be a great fit.

Guest Shark Michael Rubin, CEO of Fanatics, stepped in. He said he’d invest, but only if Mark joined him.

Mark agreed, and the two sharks offered $50,000 for 22% equity. Gavin accepted.

Shark Tank Glove Wrap Update

Our Glove Wrap update found that the deal with Mark Cuban and Michael Rubin closed successfully.

At the time of their pitch, the company had made just $19,000 in sales. Ten months later, that number jumped to over $200,000.

Before Shark Tank, Glove Wrap had around 30 million views online. Now they have more than 100 million views and over 350,000 followers across social media.

They were originally selling through their website and six small retail stores.

After the episode aired, Glove Wrap expanded to stores across the U.S. and received their first purchase order from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

In a major milestone, Glove Wrap became the official glove wrap of Major League Baseball, with the MLB batterman logo now featured on their product.

The team attended MLB All-Star Weekend, where they handed out their product and met professional players.

Our Glove Wrap update found that Michael Rubin said the MLB deal gave the company credibility and access to the highest levels of the sport.

Mark Cuban praised Gavin’s drive and hustle, saying they backed him because of his determination.

It’s exciting to see how a simple idea from an 8-year-old has turned into a nationally recognized brand backed by MLB.

This Glove Wrap update proves that with heart, hustle, and the right support, anything’s possible.
