Pluie Public Changing Table Update | Shark Tank Season 14

When Addie Gundry and Brittany Hizer were changing their babies in public restrooms, they saw how dirty and unsafe the tables were. To fix this, they created Pluie, a changing table with UV-C light that cleans the surface in 60 seconds. It helps keep babies safe and makes it easier for public spaces to stay clean. Will the sharks back Pluie and help it grow? Let’s find out in our Pluie update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank Pluie Pitch

Shark Tank Pluie Update
  • Entrepreneurs: Addie Gundry and Brittany Hizer
  • Business: Diaper changing table
  • Ask: $500,000 for 5% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Sharks: None

Addie and Brittany introduced their innovative UV-sanitizing diaper-changing table to the sharks.

The table was designed to address the hygiene concerns of public restroom facilities.

They plan to use the investment to expand manufacturing and distribution, which will help them place their patented technology in more public spaces nationwide.

Pluie is an antimicrobial baby-changing table made for public restrooms. Its special UV-C light cleans the surface in just 60 seconds.

This light kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, including E. Coli and Coronavirus. You don’t need chemical cleaners, so it’s safer for babies and easier for staff to maintain.

The table is strong and easy to use. Its foam surface doesn’t leak and is simple to wipe clean. You can mount it on a wall, and it folds out when needed.

If there’s no electricity, there’s another version without the UV light that works the same way.

Pluie is made for places like airports, malls, hospitals, and amusement parks. After changing a baby’s diaper, you just close the lid. The UV light switches on and cleans the surface for the next person.

It also has hooks to hold diaper bags, making things easier for parents.

Nevertheless, Pluie has made progress, securing placements in major locations like Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, CVS, Old Navy, and Costco.

With 115 locations and 2–3 tables per site, they’ve sold around 300 units so far. Despite Kevin O’Leary’s concerns about electrical upgrades and pricing, Addie and Brittany emphasize that these factors haven’t posed significant challenges for buyers.

Brittany brings extensive experience to the business, having spent 15 years developing products for industries such as fitness equipment and fishing boats.

Notably, she was the first female president of an $80 million fishing boat company.

Meanwhile, Addie’s background includes a pivot from physics to culinary arts, where she gained experience working for Martha Stewart.

She later returned to college to complete her degree and filed a utility patent for Pluie in 2019.

Over the years, the team has raised significant funding, securing $650,000 in 2019, $1 million in 2021, and $2 million in 2022 at progressively higher valuations.

Robert Herjavec questions why a company valued at $20 million is now seeking investment at a $10 million valuation.

Addie explains that they need a strategic partner to drive growth. While they have $1.4 million in the bank and $550,000 in pending orders, their revenue for the year is only $150,000, with projected losses of $500,000.

Kevin exits, calling them “pre-revenue,” while Daymond John predicts a slowdown in spending by big retailers.

Robert highlights the high cost compared to existing alternatives, and Lori Greiner notes that while she admires the product, its premium pricing limits its appeal.

In the end, the sharks collectively pass on the opportunity, citing concerns about valuation, adoption rates, and market fit.

Without any offers from the sharks, Addie and Brittany were forced to leave Shark Tank without a deal.

What became of their company? Let’s get a Pluie update.

Shark Tank Pluie Update

Our Pluie update found that the company continued to expand its presence in public spaces.

Notably, the Indianapolis International Airport installed 50 Pluie changing tables shortly after the episode aired.

In addition to their flagship self-sanitizing diaper changing tables, Pluie introduced the Pluie Pret Changing Mat, a portable neoprene changing mat, which became available for pre-order in June 2023.

At the time of writing, Pluie has expanded its installations to public restrooms in restaurants, theme parks, airports, stadiums, and other public spaces across 20 states nationwide.

The company has raised a total of $4.09 million in funding, with investors including Bossa Invest, Chicago Early Growth Ventures, and Coughdrop Capital.

The diaper changing table is available on the Pluie website.

If we get another Pluie update, we will let you know.
