Shark Tank Chubby Buttons Pitch

- Entrepreneurs: Mike Cherkezian and Justin Barad
- Business: Smartphone Bluetooth deviceÂ
- Ask: $250,000 for 8% equity
- Result: No deal
- Sharks: None
Mike and Justin began their pitch by introducing their Bluetooth-enabled accessory. An accessory that was designed for glove-wearers who need easy control of their smartphones.
They sought an investment to boost marketing efforts and expand their reach in the adventure sports market.
Chubby Buttons is a handy gadget that makes it easy to control your smartphone when you’re wearing gloves or heavy gear.Â
It has five large buttons that can be attached to smooth surfaces, handlebars, or even strapped to your arm.Â
The device connects to Android and Apple phones through Bluetooth, letting you adjust the volume, answer calls, take pictures, and more without taking off your gloves.
This gadget is perfect for people who enjoy activities like skiing, motorcycling, or flying—any situation where gloves or gear make using a phone tricky.Â
The durable and water-resistant design handles tough conditions and performs well outdoors. The big buttons let you press them easily, allowing you to get things done quickly without fumbling.
Over three years, Mike and Justin generated over $1 million in revenue. In 2021, they sold $500,000 worth of Chubby Bouttons, and in 2022, they sold $600,000.
Chubby Buttons produce a single unit for around $13 and sells it at a price point of $79.99, operating with a margin of greater than 80%.
While some of the sharks definitely seemed interested, Mark Cuban said that it wasn’t for him and dropped out without making an offer.
Eventually, all of the remaining sharks also dropped out, except for Kevin O’Leary.Â
Kevin offered $250,000, but he wanted 10% equity and a $10 royalty per unit until he made four times his initial investment.
Mike and Justin weren’t willing to budge because the royalty was too high, so they walked out without a deal.Â
