He sought an investment to expand production and streamline distribution to meet the growing demand for his unique product.
Blendtique offers wine blending kits that let users create custom wine blends at home.
Customers can easily buy kits from the Blendtique website or Amazon, with options at different price points.
The kits include all the tools and instructions needed, making blending simple and accessible. They also come with refills and custom labels for a personalized touch.
To reach more wine lovers, Blendtique partners with venues like Celebrity Cruises.
These partnerships offer customers in-person blending sessions, expanding the experience beyond home use.
The main customers are wine enthusiasts, event planners, and those wanting a custom wine for special occasions.
After his presentation, he then invites Barbara Corcoran and Kevin O’Leary onstage for a head-to-head wine-blending competition.
The sharks take part in a blind taste test of each blend, and Barbara wins.
Billy then shares his business numbers, revealing he’s made $200,000 in sales over two years, with each blending kit selling for $99 at a production cost of $35.
Mark Cuban is the first shark out. He says the business model is not scalable.
Robert Herjavec, in turn, thinks Billy isn’t focused enough and he exits the negotiations as well.
Kevin also exits, doubting the feasibility of selling wine at $25 per bottle.
Barbara probes further, asking how many kit buyers also purchase wine, and Billy admits only 15% do.
Concluding that he’s not generating enough wine sales, upon hearing this, Barbara goes out.
Lori Greiner, however, sees potential in the product but challenges Billy to reduce the price to $9.
When he agrees, she counters with an offer of $250,000 for 30% equity. Billy discloses he has a partner and proposes 15% equity instead.
Lori counters with 25%, but as he reveals he only holds 49% of the company, she modifies her offer to a $250,000 loan at 8% interest for 10% equity.
Billy accepts and leaves with a deal.
