Shark Tank The Yes Girls Pitch

- Entrepreneurs: Joseph and Riley Canty
- Business: A marriage proposal planning service
- Ask: $85,000 for 15% equity
- Result: No deal
- Shark: None
Joseph and Riley came to pitch a business that they originally bought for $250,000 from an Air Force pilot’s wife. But they revealed to the sharks that they still owed about $180, 000 on that loan.

To put it simply, they help people plan and execute marriage proposals from start to finish.
Operating as a full-on service model, clients come in with their request at whatever stage, and they make that dream a reality.
Riley and her team handle everything from the location, vendors, photography, florals, timing, and setup. The client only shows up to ‘pop’ the question.
The business isn’t limited to a particular location; they have, over the years, expanded their reach into multiple cities nationwide.
Mr wonderful jokingly asks what happens when the response is a resounding NO. Well, Joseph clarified that it has never happened in their 17 years of operation. They have had a 100% success rate.
Most of their luxury proposals cost between $15,000 and $25,000, depending on the venue and vendors involved. The entrepreneurs reveal that the biggest event they have handled was around $150,000, from which they earned $50,000 from.
Their average margin sits at 28% after paying vendors.
In terms of growth and customer acquisition, they have relied on organic means – brand reputation, word of mouth, Google search ranking, and ChatGPT recommendations.
Lori Greiner wanted more clarity on their structure. Joseph broke down their three-package model. Standard, premium, and custom. Entry-level clients may spend around $5,000 total. For standard packages, The Yes Girls earns a $1,500 planning fee. Their advantage is pre-negotiated vendor pricing across cities, which keeps costs predictable and execution consistent.
In terms of revenue, the company brought in $374,000 across 94 events in the previous year. This year’s projection was slightly lower, just over $300,000.
Daniel Lubetzky is the first shark to bow out. While he admired their passion, he says that proposals are very personal.
Kevin O’Leary goes out citing scalability concerns. Lori acknowledged their strong word-of-mouth marketing but didn’t see a need for a partner. Barbara Corcoran echoed Lori’s point of view and went out too.
Chip and Joanna Gaines praised their mission and attention to detail, but worried about scaling Riley’s personal touch across cities.
In the end, Joseph and Riley left with no deal in hand. Is this the end of the road for them? To find out, check out The Yes Girls update below.
