BocceRoll Update | Shark Tank Season 17
Nikki Hageman, Ben Fisher & Claude Drehfal started BocceRoll because they wanted a yard game that is socially interactive, simple, and fun. A yard game that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Fortunately, BocceRoll checks out all of those boxes as it blends classic bocce with arcade-style target scoring. The game uses a rolling court, a palina bonus ball, and raised scoring cones. Let’s see if the sharks will want to offer them a deal in our BocceRoll update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank BocceRoll Pitch

- Entrepreneurs: Nikki Hageman, Ben Fisher & Claude Drehfal
- Business: A backyard game mashup
- Ask: $100,000 for 10% equity
- Result: $100,000 for 25% equity
- Sharks: Chip & Joanna Gaines, and Lori Greiner
Coming from backgrounds in Business management, Industrial design, and engineering, all shaped by their time at Trek Bicycle, Nikki, Ben, and Claude had a shared vision for a classic yard game.
The entrepreneurs had one mission in mind: to turn BocceRoll into a major name in outdoor entertainment.
BocceRoll blends traditional bocce with arcade-style scoring to make it more interactive and social.
Each round starts by rolling the palina, a small white ball that acts as a bonus target. Players then take turns rolling larger balls.
Points are scored by landing balls inside the cone targets or getting closest to the palina. One point is awarded for proximity. Two points are awarded if the ball touches the palina. The first team to reach 21 points wins.
After their presentation, they invited power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines to try it out, and they loved it.
The business launched on Kickstarter in 2023. They hit their $10,000 goal in only 10 minutes and finished the campaign raising well over $155,000. In 2024, sales reached $560,000.
In terms of profitability, Ben said the company made $10,000 last year and reinvested the rest into inventory. But they are on track to hit $1.1 million in revenue this year, with $200,000 in pre-tax profit.
The game retails for $149. Initially, it used to be $40 per unit; no thanks to tariffs, it now retails for about $57. Lori Greiner asked how that compared to standard bocce sets. Nikki said most sell for around $120.
They currently operate a DTC model at the time of writing. Kevin O’Leary compared BocceRoll to Spikeball and said the larger footprint made retail harder. He went out.
Daniel Lubetzky followed, citing shelf space concerns. Barbara also went out, saying she could not get excited about the product.
Meanwhile, Joanna asked whether retailers had shown interest. Nikki said Target, Costco, and Dick’s Sporting Goods had reached out.
Regarding price resistance, Nikki said Target wanted a sub-$100 version, but they were not ready to reduce quality. She added they were now open to tiered pricing.
Lori decided to team with Chip and Joanna; they offered the entrepreneurs $100,000 for 25% equity.
The entrepreneurs accepted, and the deal closed with three sharks on board. Now, let’s check in for a BocceRoll update.
