Riverbend Resources Update | Shark Tank Season 16
One morning, while feeding his chickens, Erik Diedrichsen noticed their feeder was cracked and spilling food everywhere. The mess attracted rodents, wasted feed, and made constant refilling a hassle. To fix this, he created the Poultry Pro Feeder, a system that attaches to any plastic container to keep food clean, dry, and secure. This reduces waste, prevents pests, and makes feeding easier. Did the sharks chicken out on this great deal? Let’s find out in our Riverbend Resources update and pitch recap.

Shark Tank Riverbend Resources Pitch

- Entrepreneur: Erik Diedrichsen
- Business: Chicken feeder
- Ask: $300,000 for 10% equity
- Result: $300,000 for 20% equity
- Shark: Daymond John
Erik stepped into
His solution was the Poultry Pro Feeder, a system that turns any plastic container into a no-mess, weatherproof feeder in minutes.
To complement it, he introduced the Poultry Pro Waterer, a self-filling system that connects to a garden hose, ensuring chickens always have fresh water.
Mark Cuban immediately questioned his claim that 10% of American households own chickens.
Erik revealed that his company had made $3 million in total sales, with $1 million already generated this year and a projected $2 million by year-end.
Lori Greiner acknowledged that the numbers were solid and more than the sharks were expecting.
Mark wanted to dig deeper into profitability. Erik explained that each kit costs $5 to make and sells for $30, providing strong margins.
Meanwhile, Kevin O’Leary sought clarification on how the product was sold.
Erik confirmed that customers receive a full kit, including three feeder ports and a hole saw, making it an easy-to-use solution for backyard chicken owners.
However, as the company grew, it faced a major challenge—knockoffs. Kevin pressed further, asking how Erik handled the flood of copycat products.
In response, Erik explained that he pivoted to retail, securing deals with major chain stores nationwide.
Moreover, to combat the knockoffs, he secured three design patents and took legal action, filing a federal restraining order and suing counterfeiters in groups of 100 at a time.
Despite Erik’s determination, some sharks hesitated. Lori, although impressed, felt she wasn’t the right fit and bowed out.
Robert Herjavec and Mark also stepped away, admitting they lacked the expertise to contribute meaningfully.
Kevin, on the other hand, acknowledged the market potential but couldn’t personally connect with the business, so he also passed. That left Erik with one hope—Daymond John.
Erik turned to him, emphasizing his commitment and drive. He shared his personal journey of leaving his corporate job and realizing, while feeding his own chickens, that there had to be a better way.
Daymond, clearly impressed by Erik’s grit, made an offer of $300,000 for 25% equity.
Erik, not willing to give up too much equity, countered with 20% equity. After a brief moment of consideration, Daymond agreed, and they sealed the deal.
