Shark Tank Big Ass Luxuries Pitch

- Business: Oversized luxury candles

Trent, Chloe, and Kelsey stepped into
They sell oversized, handmade candles using natural waxes.
Their main products are the Baby Big Ass Candle (150 ounces, 300–500 hour burn time) and the Big Ass Candle (300 ounces, 750–1,000 hour burn time).
Prices are $179 and $284, respectively. The team positions them as affordable luxury candles.
They explained that they run a direct-to-consumer model, with 95% of sales from their Shopify website. The rest comes from limited retail sales.
To solve the challenge of customers not being able to smell before buying, they offer scent sample trios. All production happens locally in Dallas.
Kevin O’Leary immediately pointed out the $10 million valuation and asked for proof.
Trent shared that in their first full year, they made $1.3 million in sales. The following year, it grew to $2.1 million.
This year, they had already crossed $2.4 million and projected over $4 million in total sales, with about 20% profit margins. That’s roughly $800,000 in expected profit.
Lori Greiner asked what made them different from other big candles. Trent said it’s not just the candle, it’s the brand. He claimed no one else focuses on large-format candles at scale and at this price point.
He added that if a legacy brand tried it, they’d have to lower their prices across the board, which would hurt their margins.
Mark Cuban asked about costs. Trent said the Baby Big Ass costs $50 to make and $15 to ship. The Big Ass Candle costs $90.
Kevin asked if they planned to go into retail. Trent said yes, but DTC has worked so well that there hasn’t been urgency.
Kevin then asked for customer acquisition cost, and Chloe answered $50, with a 4.5x return on ad spend.
Daymond John praised the business but stepped out due to a conflict—he and his wife are tied to another candle brand.
Mark also stepped out, saying home décor isn’t his space.
Barbara Corcoran said she would’ve invested at a lower ask and stepped out, too.
Lori expressed interest but said the $500,000 ask was too high for 5% equity. She offered a split deal of a $250,000 loan and $250,000 for 15% equity.
Kevin made a competing offer of $500,000 for 20% equity.
The founders negotiated with Lori, first asking for 10% equity, then settling at 13% with the same loan structure. They accepted Lori’s deal.
