Shark Tank Alchemize Fightwear Pitch

- Entrepreneur: Maya Nazareth
- Business: Female Fightwear
- Ask: $250,000 for 5% equity
- Result: $300,000 for 15% equity
- Sharks: Lori Greiner, Alexis Ohanian, and Kendra Scott
Maya began her pitch by sharing her personal story. She told the sharks she started training in combat sports eight years ago, and it completely changed her life.
From a shy, bullied teenager, she became confident and empowered.
Maya told the sharks that her brand focuses on four combat sports: jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and MMA.
She added that the company also sells rash guards, leggings, and jiu-jitsu gis designed to fit the female form. As a short demo was played, the sharks nodded along.
Lori Greiner praised her presentation. Kevin O’Leary asked which product led sales. Maya explained that her five-item line is led by the singlet, which makes up about half of the total revenue.
Kendra Scott said the fabric felt soft and high-quality. Daymond John noted that even major fight brands like the UFC didn’t offer anything like it.
Maya replied that most companies still “shrink it and pink it,” producing smaller pink versions of men’s gear instead of designing for women’s needs.
Meanwhile, Alexis Ohanian shared his observations from women’s jiu-jitsu forums and investments in women’s sports. He said more parents are enrolling their daughters, and the right gear plays a big role in keeping them in the sport.
He also mentioned his wife, Serena Williams, and emphasized how access to functional clothing remains a major issue in women’s athletics.
When Kevin asked about sales, Maya revealed that Alchemize had reached $1.8 million in lifetime revenue since launching in 2020. The company made $500,000 last year and projected $875,000 this year, with modest profits.
She said the brand operates 100% direct-to-consumer, mostly through Instagram, which drives an engagement rate of nearly 10%, well above the industry average.
Their customer acquisition cost is $32, and the average order value is $157. The singlet sells for $90 and costs $27 to make.
Daymond asked if she could simplify her catalog. Maya explained that she keeps inventory lean, focusing on five core products while launching limited capsule collections to test demand and build community.
Kendra liked that approach and said the limited drops create urgency and brand loyalty.
Kevin questioned her $5 million valuation. However, Maya defended it by citing activewear multiples of four to eight times revenue and predicted that acquisition opportunities could come within a few years.
Lori said she loved the name and design. She teamed up with Alexis to offer $250,000 for 20% equity.
Maya countered at 10%, then raised it to 12% after Kendra joined in, leading to a three-way shark deal of $300,000 for 15% equity.
Daymond teased her for holding out, but Alexis admired her confidence.
In the end, Maya accepted Lori, Kendra, and Alexis’s joint offer of $300,000 for 15% equity and left with a deal.
