Shark Tank Doatnut Pitch

Shark Tank Doatnut Update
  • Entrepreneur: Kimberly ‘Kimy’ Aguirre
  • Business: Health-focused, Clean-label Snack
  • Ask: $100,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: $200,000 for 30% equity
  • Sharks: Mark Cuban & Lori Griner

Kimy came to Shark Tank driven by a passion for turning indulgence into wellness, determined to prove that donuts could be delicious without the usual sugar overload.

She sought an investment to help scale up her business and reach more people eager to enjoy her healthy, low-sugar treats.

Kimy’s mission was clear: make guilt-free sweets that taste just as good as they look.

Doatnut is a sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and low-calorie donut.

Each serving contains less than one gram of natural sugar from sweet potatoes and only 90 calories.

Doatnut is packed with simple, wholesome ingredients like pure oats, sweet potatoes, egg whites, monk fruit, and baking powder.

Further, it brings all the flavor of a dessert without the usual sugar crash.

Kimy’s business revolves around her charming Little Pink Store, where freshness is the focus.

She explained to the sharks that she mills her oats fresh each day, keeping the natural oils intact and adding a rich, ‘brown butter’ flavor to every Doatnut.

After having a taste of the donuts, the sharks loved it and wanted to know more.

It costs Kimy between $0.70 and $0.80 to make, and she sells them for $3.50.This gives her a solid margin of between 337.5% to 400%.

Kevin O’Leary chimes in and suggests she bump up the price to $4.99 to boost profits further.

Since starting in 2021, Kimy has made $350,000 in total sales, though she admitted she’s only reached $50,000 this year—leaving the sharks visibly unimpressed.

While she’s built a loyal customer base, the low annual revenue made the sharks question the company’s growth potential.

In addition, Kimy is carrying $70,000 in debt after pouring her savings into keeping her business running.

Kevin loves the product but feels that it’s not a great product without a proper business plan. For those reasons, he drops out of the negotiations.

Daymond John says this isn’t his type of business. He’s out.

Guest shark Kendra Scott expressed admiration for Kimy’s passion and dedication but explained that she isn’t familiar with the grocery market.

She felt she wasn’t the right investor to support Doatnut’s expansion needs, so she declined to invest as well.

Mark Cuban teams up with Lori Greiner, and they both offer $150,000 for 30% equity.

Kimy countered for the same amount at 20% equity. However, the sharks made a counteroffer of $200,000 for 30% equity, committing to help her repay her $70,000 debt.

Without much hesitation, Kimy accepts the offer.

Let’s check out our Doatnut update to see if this deal turned out right for Kimy.
