Shark Tank Creator Camp Pitch

Shark Tank Creator Camp update
  • Entrepreneurs: Kai Forman, Jacky Chao and Christopher Cazden Morrison
  • Business: Hands-on and collaborative education company
  • Ask: $350,000 for 5% equity
  • Result: $350,000 for 18% equity
  • Shark: Barbara Corcoran

Kai, Jacky, and Cazden, high school best friends from Katy, Texas, introduced Creator Camp to the sharks.

They sought a $350,000 investment to expand their program to new locations.

Creator Camp is an educational program that helps kids turn screen time into productive learning.

It was founded in 2021 by five childhood friends: Kai, Cazden, Jacky, Robbie, and Winston.

The program focuses on teaching practical skills like filmmaking, animation, music production, and game design.

Moreover, the program includes video editing, audio engineering, and online safety to ensure a well-rounded learning experience.

The camps operate in rented spaces, such as schools and community centers, which provide Wi-Fi and classroom settings.

These partnerships also allow the entrepreneurs to directly market to student bodies and hire local teachers for summer roles.

Each camp session lasts three days and costs $250 per child.

In addition, the classes are intentionally small, with a maximum of 20 kids per session and up to 60 kids at one location.

In their first year operating a single location, they made $60,000 in revenue. By the second year, they expanded their team and earned $100,000.

Moreover, year three saw the business expand to multiple locations, with a full staff contributing to $300,000 in revenue.

Year to date, they have reached 27 locations across Texas and reported $840,000 in revenue.

They project revenue to climb to $1.3 million in 2025 with an expansion to 35 locations, including a planned move into Washington, D.C.

Their long-term goal is to grow to 250 locations by 2030, generating $25 million in annual revenue.

Mark Cuban says Creator Camp is impressive and aligns with his passion for education.

However, it conflicts with his foundation’s free AI Boot Camp, which also focuses on content creation. For those reasons, he’s out.

Lori Greiner says she finds the idea clever and sees how kids would love it, but it’s not the right investment for her, so she’s out.

Kevin O’Leary has issues with their $7 million valuation. He’s out as well.

Guest shark Rashuan Williams says the company’s growth trajectory and potential exit size aren’t sufficient to meet this requirement, so he’s out.

Barbara Corcoran says she sees potential in turning Creator Camp into a franchise model.

She makes an offer of $350,000 for 20% equity, contingent on their commitment to franchising.

After some counter negotiations, Barbara agrees to a final deal of $350,000 for 18% equity.
