Max and Kausi stepped into
They aim to disrupt the kids’ hands-on learning space by using the ChompSaw, a kid-safe power tool for cutting cardboard.
They need the investment to scale production and launch a subscription service for STEM-inspired cardboard projects.
ChompSaw is a kid-safe power tool designed to help children cut cardboard and build creative projects.
The product uses a rapid hole-punching mechanism that safely cuts cardboard without posing any risk, even if touched directly.
The company operates on a direct-to-consumer model and sells its products online.
It costs $73.81 to manufacture, and it is sold for $230.
In terms of sales, Kausi revealed that in October 2023, they ran a Kickstarter campaign and raised $1,175,102. Since then, they have raised an additional $1 million.
Although the company has not yet delivered the product to customers, it has already secured pre-orders for 10,000 units, generating $2.1 million in sales within less than a year of launching.
Max said they plan to deliver the pre-order products within the next couple of months, as manufacturing in China is nearing completion.
Kausi shared that they raised $5,000 from a family member through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE).
Kevin O’Leary makes them an offer of $250,000 for 20% equity.
Meanwhile, guest shark Rashaun Williams believed it was too early to invest in the company, so he went out.
Barbara Corcoran matched Kevin’s offer of $250,000 for 20% equity.
Mark Cuban enters the bidding war with $250,000 for 15% equity.
Lori Greiner immediately proposed teaming up with Mark Cuban, suggesting they split the 15% equity evenly at 7.5% each if Max and Kausi agreed to the terms.
Without hesitation, the entrepreneurs accepted Mark and Lori’s offer of $250,000 for 15% equity, leaving the show with a deal.
