Bauble Stockings Update | Shark Tank Season 17
When Kate Stewart was growing up, her dad had a small tradition. He took her and her brothers to buy a special gift for their mom, then hid the gift or a clue to it inside a tiny needlepoint stocking on the Christmas tree. That little “bauble stocking” made the end of Christmas feel warm and personal, and Kate realized many families didn’t have anything like it. So she created Bauble Stockings to bring that same final moment of joy to other homes with a small stocking that holds a thoughtful last gift or clue. Were the sharks interested in a deal? Shark Tank Bauble Stockings Pitch

- Entrepreneurs: Kate Stewart
- Business: Holiday gift stockings
- Ask: $250,000 for 15% equity
- Result: $250,000 for 20% equity
- Shark: Barbara Corcoran
Kate entered the tank and introduced her holiday gifting brand built around small, hand-stitched stockings.
She explained that each mini stocking holds a clue or a final gift meant to extend the excitement of Christmas morning. The stockings are needlepointed by fair-trade artisans in Haiti and sold online and through retail partners.
Customers use them as part of a “save the best for last” family tradition, turning a simple moment into something more memorable.
She handed out personalized stockings to each shark and then introduced a new, lower-priced velvet version paired with a children’s book that explains the tradition.
Meanwhile, the sharks examined the needlepoint versions. Daymond John asked why such a small stocking retails for $89.50. Kate said the cost is $30.49 because each piece is hand-stitched.
Lori Greiner confirmed the craftsmanship and asked how many people buy them at that price. Kate surprised the panel by revealing total sales of $6.3 million since launching in 2018.
Kevin O’Leary then asked about the time period during which the sales were made. Kate repeated her timeline and said Bauble Stockings is sold at retailers like Neiman Marcus.
Daniel Lubetzky asked what drove the company’s growth. Kate said she shifted from retail to direct-to-consumer when margins improved. Lori studied the new velvet version and book and asked how much the set would cost. Kate said she planned to retail it for around $30 to reach more families.
However, Kevin questioned why she wanted to introduce a children’s book when the original needlepoint product was already a proven success. He warned that books are a crowded market and said the shift could distract her.
Daymond said he saw challenges in serving both premium and mid-level customers and stepped out.
Daniel followed, saying she hadn’t defined her long-term direction clearly enough.
Kevin then criticized the new product again and also bowed out. Lori praised Kate’s results and brand strength but said she didn’t need outside investment. She exited as well.
That left Barbara Corcoran. She said she admired Kate’s ability to pivot and her willingness to adapt the business as conditions changed. Next, she offered $250,000 for 25% of the company. Kate countered with 20% equity, and Barbara accepted the counter.
In the end, Kate took the deal. Was this the right investment for her at this time? Let’s find out in our Bauble Stockings update.
