Plufl Update | Shark Tank Season 14

Yuki Kinoshita and Noah Silverman came onto Shark Tank during Season 14 to ask for an investment of $200,000 dollars. They were willing to sell that sharks 10% equity in their company, Plufl. The concept of the company is a portable human bed that is similar to that of a dog bed. Let’s see if they managed to get a deal before we give you the Plufl update.

Shark Tank Plufl Update

Plufl update

  • Entrepreneurs:  Yuki Kinoshita and Noah Silverman
  • Business: Human Portable Beds
  • Ask: $200,000 for 10% equity
  • Result:  $200,000 for 15% equity
  • Sharks:  Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner

Noah and Yuki told the sharks that they are accepting preorders for Plufl at a price point of $399 and that it costs about $150 to manufacture a single bed. The company had generated $280,000 on Kickstarter and an additional $130,000 in gross revenue sales since ending the Kickstarter campaign.

Kevin O’Leary wanted to make an offer, but he needed more equity. He told the two entrepreneurs that he wanted 30% equity in Plufl or else he wouldn’t want to make a deal. Robert Herjavec disagreed and wasn’t interested at all, so he dropped out without making an offer.

Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner wanted to team up and make an offer, as this deal reminded them of another they’d done together, Hug Sleep. They made an offer of $200,000 for 20% equity. Yuki and Noah ultimately decided to accept their offer.

Kevin’s offer was ignored because it was seeking too much equity, but Mark and Lori seemed to offer a reasonable amount of equity without asking for an amount that would deter the entrepreneurs from agreeing.

Let’s fast forward a little bit and get a Plufl update.

After agreeing to the preliminary deal with Mark and Lori,  Plufl experienced a short-term major boost in popularity after the episode aired. Due to the Shark Tank effect, Yuki and Noah received an instant boost in sales, but it’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts.
