Inirv Update | Shark Tank Season 9

Inirv is a product designed to protect homes from dangerous kitchen fires, as many people will occasionally turn their stove on and forget to turn it off. This dangerous situation could lead to a major fire hazard. Inirv was created with a smart device that can attach to the knobs of the stove and can even be controlled remotely from a mobile app. Ranjith Babu and Akshita Iyer came to Shark Tank looking to raise $800,000 in exchange for 8% equity in their company. Let’s see if they were able to make a deal on Season 9 before we jump ahead and take a look at the Inirv update.

Shark Tank Inirv Update

Inirv Update

  • Entrepreneurs: Ranjith Babu and Akshita Iyer
  • Business: Kitchen Safety Accessory
  • Ask: $800,000 for 8% equity
  • Result: No deal
  • Sharks: None

Inirv launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with a goal of just $40,000. The campaign was extremely successful and raised more than $150,000 by the end of the campaign. During the time of the pitch, the company hasn’t officially started selling units to the public, but there were hundreds of preorders already in place as a result of the Kickstarter campaign.

Several of the sharks believed that the product would be obsolete in a few years, so they dropped out. These sharks included Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, and Kevin O’Leary.

Some of the other sharks simply believed that the asking valuation was way too significant, so they dropped out as well. Daymond John dropped out but Robert Herjavec decided to offer $800,000 for 20% equity. Ranjith and Akshita respectfully rejected Robert’s offer and left Shark Tank without a deal.

Our Inirv update has some interesting developments. Apparently, the company has rebranded to ‘Ome’.

The company has faced major compatibility and logistical issues since rebranding and many customers have had negative reviews because of it. The sharks were apparently right with their initial instincts and their concerns were justified about this particular product.

However, despite not getting a deal the company is still in business and selling products through its new website. It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for our next Inirv update.
